Frequently Asked Questions:

Installs Eco Solar Technics only for individuals? Or also for companies?

Eco Solar Technics installs for both individuals and companies.

What are TIER1 panels?

TIER1 solar panels are high quality solar panels produced by companies with a strong financial position, an established reputation and a proven track record in the production of solar panels. These panels have a high efficiency and are produced according to strict quality standards. TIER1 solar panels are often chosen by consumers and companies looking for reliable and sustainable energy solutions.

It is important to note that not all solar panel brands that call themselves TIER1 actually meet these quality standards. That is why it is always advisable to research the reputation and quality of the manufacturer and their products when purchasing solar panels.

What is the difference between a string inverter and microinverter?

A string inverter and a microinverter are both types of inverters used in solar power systems. The main difference between these two types of inverters lies in how they convert the direct current (DC) produced by the solar panels into alternating current (AC) suitable for use in households or on the power grid.

A string inverter is typically used in systems with multiple solar panels connected in series to form one long 'string'. The inverter converts the DC current of the entire string into AC current, making it suitable for use in the household or on the power grid. String inverters are generally less expensive than microinverters and are often used on larger solar power systems.

A microinverter is a smaller, individual inverter placed directly below each solar panel that converts each panel's DC power into AC power. This allows each panel to operate independently of the others, maximizing system performance and minimizing the impact of shadows. Microinverters are generally more expensive than string inverters, but they can be more efficient and result in higher yields from the solar power plant.

Choosing a string inverter or microinverter depends on the specific needs and characteristics of the solar energy system and your personal preferences and budget.

Do you need a permit to install solar panels?

Yes, installing solar panels at private homes in Spain generally requires a permit. However, exact permit requirements may vary depending on the region and municipality where the installation is taking place.

In most cases, solar panel installation must be approved by municipal authorities and may also require approval from regional or national authorities. Depending on the size and power of the installation, there may also be technical requirements that must be met.

Can you get subsidies for installing solar panels?

Yes, it is possible to obtain subsidies in Spain for the installation of solar panels by private individuals. The Spanish government offers various subsidies and incentives to promote the production and use of renewable energy sources, including solar panels.

One of the most important grants is the "Program for the Promotion of Renewable Energy" (PROSOL) managed by the Spanish Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE). This program provides financial support for the purchase and installation of solar panels and other forms of renewable energy sources for individuals and businesses.

In addition, some regions and municipalities in Spain also offer their own subsidy schemes for the installation of solar panels and other forms of renewable energy. However, the terms and amounts of these grants may vary by region.

It is therefore advisable to contact the local authorities and energy companies to get more information about the available subsidies and the conditions for the installation of solar panels at private homes in Spain.

asks Eco Solar Technics the grants for me?

Yes, Eco Solar Technics apply for the subsidies for a new installation, with all the obligatory formalities.

Which part of the administration takes Eco Solar Technics on his behalf?

An overview of the data Eco Solar Technics processed for you during the installation process:

For start of the installation:

  1. Notification of the works to the municipality
  2. Application for any permits

After installation:

  1. We approve your installation
  2. We will register your installation with the network operator. Your energy supplier will be informed of your installation within a period of approximately 8 weeks after the inspection. Based on this notification, he will personally invite you to discuss your feed-in tariff with you.
  3. We ask for concessions:
    1. Europe
    2. Spain
    3. Communidad
    4. Township

To be able to take control of this process, we ask for a power of attorney to be signed at the start of your file.

What is a Virtual Battery? Offers Eco Solar Technics this on?

A virtual battery in solar panels is a system used to store excess energy generated by solar panels for later use, without actually using physical batteries.

With this system, the excess energy produced by the solar panels is converted into electricity and fed back into the electricity grid. The electricity that is returned in this way is registered and credited to the owner of the solar panels. When there is a need for electricity, the owner can use this electricity from the electricity grid, with the previously returned energy being settled as a credit.

In this way, the virtual battery functions as a kind of storage system, where excess energy is stored and can be used later. This system is especially useful for households that have solar panels but don't want to purchase or install physical batteries.

All on-grid installations of Eco Solar Technics are compatible with the virtual battery.

Ask our advisors for more information about the virtual battery.

When can I switch to a virtual battery?

To create clarity, we first make a distinction between the network operator and the energy supplier.

Grid operator: Provides the infrastructure (cabling, meter)

Energy supplier: Supplies and bills you for your electricity consumption

Procedure:

  1. As soon as your solar installation has been installed and inspected, the network operator (usually Iberdrola or Endesa) will be informed.
  2. This in itself needs about 8 weeks to process your file.
  3. Your network operator will inform your energy supplier.
  4. Your energy supplier will invite you to discuss your 'new tariff' with energy injection into the grid.

In addition to the traditional injection of energy (with reimbursement) into the grid, you can consider getting started with a virtual battery. This is a service offered by energy suppliers in the Spanish market.

Please note. The entire above procedure must be completed before you can switch to another energy supplier.

There are several parties that offer such a service. Ask our advisors for more information.
